Welcome to Another Wonderful Year with the SOE Family!

Even before school started, the S.T.A.R. team has been working hard to create amazing events for the mentors and buddies.  Our first big event this semester was the SOE S.T.A.R. BBQ, where administrators, professors, mentors, and buddies gathered together to eat delicious food and enjoy each other's company.  At the BBQ, the mentors proudly wore their buddies' name tags as they tried to find their own name tag on their buddies.  Friendships were formed and the year didn't look so scary anymore because you know that you have a family here ready to support and encourage you.

Thank you everyone for coming out and making this event such a success!

Which S.T.A.R. event are you excited to attend this semester?

  1. I wasn't able to make it to the BBQ because of student teaching, but I am super excited to participate in the S.T.A.R. Midnight Run. The Midnight Run is something that I haven't had the chance to do before at St. John's, so I am excited to be able to do it now before I graduate!

  2. The STAR Barebecue was such a wonderful event! It was great getting to know my buddy and to just spend time with everyone. It's really nice to have those days to be around students who share the same aspirations as you do. Can't wait to attend more events!

  3. I am excited for SOE Series: Classroom Management because I believe that classroom management is a huge part of teaching. It comes with everything you do in the classroom to keep the students focused, well-behaved, and engaged. It's a very difficult thing to do and the interviews I've encountered so far with teachers teaching for many years, all still have a hard time with it. So, I am waiting for this event and really learn all the aspects of classroom management.
